Bob Marley And The Wailers – The Wailing Wailers At Studio One – Cassette

The Wailing Wailers at Studio One is a compilation album featuring recordings by the Jamaican reggae group The Wailers, led by Bob Marley, released in 2005.

The album comprises recordings made by The Wailers at Studio One, a renowned recording studio in Kingston, Jamaica, during the early 1960s. These recordings capture The Wailers in their formative years, showcasing their early sound and musical development.

The tracks on The Wailing Wailers at Studio One feature a blend of ska, rocksteady, and early reggae styles, with Bob Marley’s soulful vocals and socially conscious lyrics already making an impact. Songs like ‘Simmer Down,’ ‘One Love,’ and ‘It Hurts to Be Alone’ highlight The Wailers’ infectious rhythms and Marley’s emotive delivery.

While The Wailers achieved greater commercial success in the 1970s with albums like ‘Catch a Fire’ and ‘Exodus,’ ‘The Wailing Wailers at Studio One’ offers a valuable glimpse into the band’s origins and showcases their talent and potential as one of the most influential reggae acts of all time.

This album is a companion to SIMMER DOWN AT STUDIO ONE. Combined they are the total output recorded by The Wailers at Studio One in Kingston, Jamaica from 1963-66. There’s an incredible rough-and-tumble excitement here. Reggae had yet to become the worldwide phenomenon it was in the ’70s, and It’s clear that Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer were listening eagerly to the radio, hearing all manner of rock and pop from America and England. This music is a product of the ska popular on their island, and anything else that caught their fancy.

Listening to ‘Can’t You See’ it’s hard to imagine that they weren’t as taken with the Rolling Stones as any other enthusiastic young band. The alternate take of ‘Sinner Man’ shows the R&B influence added into the stew that became reggae. And the opening measures of ‘Who Feels It Knows It’ are nothing short of inventive pop thinking. Not only is this an important historical look at the early days of these major artists, it’s also an invigorating delight.

Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic seal
