GBH – From Here To Reality – Cassette
From Here to Reality is the fifth studio album by the British punk rock band GBH. It was released in 1990. GBH (short for “Charged GBH”) is a highly influential band in the punk and hardcore scenes, known for their aggressive sound and socially aware lyrics.
1990’s From Here to Reality, marches on in the same direction as the preceding A Fridge Too Far, only the hardcore is harder, the speed metal is faster, and the energy on display defies any suggestion that G.B.H. were anything but the same committed mob they’d always been.
“New Decade” sensibly opens the album, and does so with a discordant edge that proves to be this album’s key. From “Trust Me I’m a Doctor” to “The Old School of Self Destruction” and “Just in Time for the Epilogue,”classic latter-day G.B.H. permeates every cut and, though it’s all a lot less melodic than Fridge,
From Here to Reality continued GBH’s trademark hardcore punk style with fast and energetic tracks that tackle various social and political issues. The album features powerful guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and Colin Abrahall’s distinctive vocals, which have been a defining characteristic of the band’s sound.
While GBH never achieved mainstream commercial success, they garnered a dedicated fanbase and are highly respected within the punk rock community. “From Here to Reality” is considered one of their notable albums and remains popular among punk rock enthusiasts.
