Description
Ritual Device – Henge – Cassette
Henge is the debut and only studio album by the American alternative rock band Ritual Device. It was released in 1991.
Ritual Device was known for their heavy and aggressive sound, incorporating elements of punk, grunge, and metal into their music.
Ritual Device imported the Chicago sound of Big Black, the Effigies, and the Jesus Lizard inspired punk to their hometown of Omaha, NE. With their own ire of complex guitars and screaming vocals.
Henge showcases their raw energy and powerful riffs, along with intense vocals and a driving rhythm section. The album features tracks such as “Shift,” “Charlie Jones,” and “Accessory.” While Ritual Device had a relatively short-lived career, Henge remains a notable release in the alternative rock scene of the early 1990s.
The lineup of Randy Cotton (bass), Eric Ebers (drums), Mike Saklar (guitar), and Timothy Moss (vocals) settled in 1995 as they toured the East Coast. But by the time their live album Trademark of Quality Years came out by the end of that year, Ritual Device called it a day with Tommy Moss moving on to Men of Porn while Cotton and Saklar continued with Ravine.
