Artch was a heavy metal band from Norway formed in 1982 and featuring singer Espen Hoss (replaced after his accidental death by Eirikur Hauksson), guitarist Cato Olsen, guitarist Geir Nilssen, bassist Bernt A. Jansen, and drummer Jorn Jamissen.

For The Sake of Mankind is the debut album by the Norwegian progressive/power metal band Artch. It was released on September 21, 1988, through the record label Active Records. The band was formed in 1982 and gained a following in the Norwegian metal scene before signing with Active Records to release their first album.

“For the Sake of Mankind” is a concept album that tells a story set in a post-apocalyptic world. The lyrics explore themes of war, environmental destruction, and the struggle for survival. Musically, the album combines elements of traditional heavy metal with progressive and power metal influences, featuring intricate guitar work, melodic hooks, and powerful vocals.

The album received positive reviews from metal critics and gained a cult following among fans of the genre.
