Snuff – Snuff Said – Cassette
Snuff Said is the debut album by the British punk rock band Snuff, released in 1989. Snuff is known for their melodic punk sound and blending elements of punk, ska, and pop.
Snuff Said showcases the band’s catchy and energetic style, featuring fast-paced punk rock songs with sing-along choruses and witty lyrics. The album contains a mix of original compositions and a few cover songs, including a punk rock version of the classic “I Think We’re Alone Now.”
After three years, a number of comp tracks and a couple EPs, England’s Snuff finally have a debut album under their belt that undoubtedly outshined everything else that was released in 1989. Snuff Said features the unique stylings of thrashy pop-punk, harmonized vocals and a sense of humor that make this trio stick out among all the generic Queers/Bad Religion wannabes.
Even their renditions of “Purple Haze” and “I Think We’re Alone Now” sound nothing like the originals, thanks to Snuff’s added energy and intensity. Previously released on Workers Playtime/Rough Trade Records, Snuff Said set the standards of fast, galloping pop-punk that influenced hundreds of bands around the world.
Some notable tracks from Snuff Said include “Not Listening,” “Another Girl,” and “Some-How.” The album gained popularity within the punk rock scene and helped establish Snuff as a prominent band in the genre.
