Compilation – A Night in Jost Van Dyke / Carnival in St. Thomas – Vinyl Record

Original 1968 field recordings from the British Virgin Islands, featuring a sixth-generation musician from the very small island of Jost Van Dyke known to one and all as Foxy. Recorded on location, this is true “scratch band” music at its infectious best, with Foxy backed by guitar and a variety of rhythm instruments, from gourds, washtub bass, to pots and pans. Foxy’s music is supplemented with some “road march” steel band and Afro-Puerto Rican music recorded during Carnival music recorded in St. Thomas on the same voyage.
