Hawaiian Rainbow examines Hawaii’s traditional chants, percussion, ukulele, slack-key and steel guitar, male and female falsetto, and lush vocal harmonies, all of them accompanied by authentic Hawaiian hula. Featured performers include: kumm hula Vicky Holt Takamine and Pua Ali’l ‘llima, Raymond and Elodia Kane, Auntie Genoa Keawe, the Sam Bernard Trio, the Makaha Sons of Ni’ihau, the Ho’opi’i Brothers, Jerry Santos and Hannani Apoliona, Andy Cummings, Violet Pahu Liliko’i, Billy Hew Len, Michael Kahikina, and Lehna Dance Company. Also appearing are poet Puanani Burgess, radio personality Brickwood Galuteria, ethnomusicologist Dr. Ricardo D. Trimillos, and author-editor Dr. George S. Kanahele.
