New Hope for the Wretched is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Plasmatics, led by the charismatic frontwoman Wendy O. Williams.

New Hope for the Wretched was released on October 15, 1980. The album falls within the punk rock and punk metal genres. Plasmatics were known for their energetic and rebellious sound, as well as their provocative stage performances.

Besides Wendy O. Williams, the original lineup included Richie Stotts (guitar), Wes Beech (guitar), Jean Beauvoir (bass), and Stu Deutsch (drums). Some notable tracks from the album include “Butcher Baby,” “Living Dead,” “Corruption,” and “Concrete Shoes.” “Butcher Baby” is one of the band’s signature songs.
