Description
TAGC – Broadcast Test – Vinyl Record
2 songs from Wax Trax on a limited edition 12″. Out of press. No vocals but the sampling reminds me of Negativland a bit, but just the subject matter and sequencing.
T.A.G.C. (The Anti-Group Communication) is an experimental music and art project initiated in 1985 by Adi Newton, co-founder of the influential post-punk band Clock DVA. T.A.G.C. serves as a platform for exploring the intersections of sound, visual art, and esoteric concepts, often delving into themes of psychoacoustics, metaphysics, and the occult.
In 1989, T.A.G.C. released the “Broadcast Test” EP, a two-track 12-inch vinyl that exemplifies their avant-garde approach to sound and media. The EP was issued under the Big Sex Records label in Germany and later by Wax Trax! Records in the United States.
Both tracks are characterized by their experimental soundscapes, incorporating elements of industrial music, ambient textures, and electronic noise. The compositions are designed to challenge conventional listening experiences, often utilizing unconventional structures and sonic elements to evoke introspection and altered states of consciousness.
The EP was programmed by T.A.G.C. and Techno Geist Associates at the Anterior Digital Facility in 1989. The cover art and packaging reflect the project’s minimalist aesthetic, aligning with the conceptual nature of the music.
Broadcast Test is a significant release within the experimental music community, showcasing T.A.G.C.’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound and perception. The EP remains a sought-after item among collectors and enthusiasts of avant-garde music.
