Biochemist and electro-acoustic musician Michael Prime collects sounds–including instrumental and vocal improvisations, field recordings, and recordings of the bioelectrical activity of molds and plants. He layers these sounds, often treated electronically, like individual photographic transparencies, creating vertical compositions of considerable depth and density. Prime performs a similar function in Morphogenesis, an electro-acoustic collaborative of London-based artists and musicians, but his solo work exhibits a naturalistic character that makes it unique.
