Michelle T Clinton – Blood As A Bright Color – Cassette

Michelle T. Clinton is an American poet and performance artist known for her powerful explorations of race, gender, and sexuality. In 1993, she released Blood as a Bright Color, a spoken word album that delves into themes of systemic violence, personal trauma, and resilience.

Recorded at Madhouse Studio in Canoga Park, California, the album was produced by Harvey Robert Kubernik.

Clinton’s work is characterized by its raw honesty and confrontational style, addressing issues such as sexual abuse, racial discrimination, and the complexities of healing. Her performances are noted for their emotional intensity and linguistic innovation, often incorporating elements of Black vernacular speech and feminist theory.
