Released in February 1972 on Island Records, Pink Moon is the third and final studio album by English singer-songwriter Nick Drake. At just 28 minutes long, the record is strikingly sparse—consisting almost entirely of Drake’s voice and acoustic guitar, with the briefest touch of piano on the title track. Where his earlier albums (Five Leaves Left, 1969, and Bryter Layter, 1970) featured lush arrangements and contributions from session musicians, Pink Moon is stripped to its bare essence. Drake recorded the album over two nights in October 1971 at Sound Techniques studio in London, with producer John Wood.
