Crowbar – Live + 1 is a brief but crushingly heavy live EP released in 1994 by the New Orleans sludge metal pioneers Crowbar. Clocking in at just under 20 minutes, this five-track release captures the raw, down-tuned aggression and emotional intensity that defines Crowbar’s signature sound. The “+1” in the title refers to one studio bonus track, while the remaining four cuts were recorded live, most likely during a tour in support of their second, self-titled album (Crowbar, 1993), produced by Phil Anselmo of Pantera.
The live portion of Live + 1 delivers slow, crushing riffs, guttural vocals, and a sense of bleak, cathartic heaviness that was unusual even in the burgeoning sludge metal scene of the time.
