Carrie Underwood’s My Savior is her eighth studio album, released on March 26, 2021 through Capitol Nashville. Unlike her mainstream country releases, this project is a full-length gospel album, consisting entirely of traditional Christian hymns that Underwood grew up singing in church.
Produced by David Garcia, the album takes a restrained, reverent approach. Rather than reimagining the hymns with modern pop-country production, the arrangements lean toward traditional instrumentation—acoustic guitar, piano, organ, subtle percussion, and choir-backed harmonies. The focus remains on Underwood’s vocal performance, which shifts between delicate phrasing and powerful, gospel-style crescendos.
The tracklist includes well-known standards such as “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Softly and Tenderly,” “Blessed Assurance,” and “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.” Underwood performs most of the album solo, with a notable collaboration on “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus” featuring gospel singer CeCe Winans.
