Selena – Dreaming of You 30th Anniversary – Target Exclusive Dark Mauve Double Vinyl Record with Poster

Dreaming of You is Selena's posthumous 1995 album and the recording that brought her English-language pop work together with major Spanish-language songs from the catalog she had already established. The sequence moves among contemporary pop, R&B, Tejano, cumbia, and traditional material without separating those identities into isolated compartments. This thirtieth-anniversary edition presents a newly remastered two-record program, giving the album's thirteen tracks a physical release overseen in collaboration with the Quintanilla family.

“I Could Fall in Love” opens with restraint, allowing Selena's phrasing to carry the uncertainty between confession and caution. “Captive Heart” and “I'm Getting Used to You” continue the English-language side of the crossover project with distinct rhythmic approaches. “God's Child (Baila Conmigo),” recorded with David Byrne, shifts the atmosphere before the title track. “Dreaming of You” remains the album's emotional center because its melody and vocal balance hope with the knowledge that the desired relationship still exists partly in imagination.

“Missing My Baby” links the new material to an earlier period in Selena's recording life, while “Amor Prohibido” demonstrates the Tejano and cumbia foundation that made her a major artist before the English-language project was completed. “Wherever You Are (Donde Quiera Que Estés)” joins Selena with the Barrio Boyzz in a bilingual performance, and “Techno Cumbia” combines dance-floor momentum with the rhythmic confidence of Selena y Los Dinos. The album's range is therefore historical as well as stylistic.

The final side draws together “El Toro Relajo,” “Como la Flor,” “Tú, Solo Tú,” and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.” These performances show different parts of Selena's voice: traditional drama, heartbreak, controlled ranchera expression, and joyful cumbia-pop. Placing them beside the crossover recordings prevents the album from being understood as an unfinished move away from Spanish-language music. Instead, Dreaming of You documents an artist capable of carrying several traditions into one public identity.

For the anniversary remaster, Suzette Quintanilla and A.B. Quintanilla participated in the oversight, with engineers including Robert Gomez III, Serban Ghenea, Gustavo Celis, Happy Perez, and Brian “RED” Moore associated with the restoration and mix work. Randy Merrill handled final mastering. The project revisits the source with contemporary technical care while preserving the performances and sequence through which many listeners first encountered the full breadth of Selena's work.
