Description
AC/DC – Highway to Hell – 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Highway to Hell captures AC/DC at the point where relentless touring and sharper studio focus turned the band into an international hard-rock force. Producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange brought greater vocal and arrangement clarity without sanding away the tension between Angus and Malcolm Young’s guitars.
The title track opens with one of the band’s most economical riffs, giving Bon Scott room to deliver humor, defiance, and weariness in the same performance. “Girls Got Rhythm,” “Walk All Over You,” and “Touch Too Much” continue the direct attack while varying tempo and space.
Malcolm’s rhythm playing is the structural center: dry, exact chords leave openings for Angus’s leads, Phil Rudd’s backbeat, and Cliff Williams’s bass. The production makes the band sound larger by preserving separation rather than filling every moment with overdubs.
The later sequence adds more shadow. “Beating Around the Bush” moves with bluesy speed, “Shot Down in Flames” turns rejection into a chant, and “Night Prowler” closes slowly and ominously, showing that the album’s identity extends beyond its three best-known songs.
Released in 1979, Highway to Hell was the final AC/DC studio album recorded with Bon Scott before his death in February 1980. His lyrics and vocal personality give the record its mixture of danger, comedy, bravado, and hard-earned road fatigue.
This 2003 Columbia/Legacy reissue presents the remastered album on one 180-gram vinyl record and is identified by UPC 696998020610. It is the standard black-vinyl catalog edition, distinct from original Atlantic pressings and later colored variants. The remaster belongs to the coordinated Sony/Legacy AC/DC vinyl campaign, giving this copy a catalog relationship with the matching Back in Black and For Those About to Rock editions.
Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
