Description

Bob Marley & The Wailers – Africa Unite – Red Vinyl Record

Africa Unite brings Bob Marley’s catalog into direct collaboration with a new generation of African artists. Rather than functioning as a standard tribute album, the project builds new recordings around Marley and the Wailers’ songs and vocal presence, placing reggae inside contemporary Afrobeats production. The title reflects the cultural exchange at the heart of the set: Jamaican music shaped by African heritage returning to the continent through present-day voices.

“So Much Trouble” features Zimbabwean artists Nutty O and Winky D, using a modern rhythmic frame without softening the song’s warning. “Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)” pairs Rema and Skip Marley, connecting family lineage with one of Marley’s clearest statements about inequality. South African singer Ami Faku brings a restrained emotional tone to “Redemption Song.”

Tiwa Savage appears on “Waiting in Vain,” meeting the original song’s romantic patience with smooth, contemporary phrasing. Afro B joins “Turn Your Lights Down Low.” “Three Little Birds,” with Teni and Oxlade, becomes a bright ensemble performance, while Ghana’s Stonebwoy brings dancehall and Afropop energy to “Buffalo Soldier.”

Sarkodie contributes to “Stir It Up,” adding rap flow to the familiar groove. Ayra Starr’s “Jamming” is light and rhythmically agile, and Patoranking closes the album with “One Love.” The guest choices cover several African scenes rather than presenting the continent as one sound, making the record’s unity a matter of dialogue across difference.

This Island Records edition presses the complete ten-track Africa Unite program on limited opaque red vinyl. UPC 602448911216 identifies this colored configuration. It is the 2023 collaborative album, not the 2005 Africa Unite singles compilation, and the track listing follows the new Afrobeats reinterpretations from “So Much Trouble” through “One Love.”

Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
