Description
Aquilo – ii – Vinyl Record
Aquilo’s second album ii develops the intimate electronic-pop sound Ben Fletcher and Tom Higham established on Silhouettes. The Lake District duo works with soft lead vocals, close harmony, piano, programmed rhythm, and slowly expanding layers of synthesizer. Rather than building every song toward a dramatic drop, the album often lets emotion accumulate through repetition, subtle production changes, and the contrast between a fragile voice and a wide stereo space.
“I Could Fight on a Wall” opens with a lyric about conflict and persistence, its restrained verses gradually surrounded by electronic detail. “Thin” makes vulnerability explicit, while “Ghost” uses absence as both subject and atmosphere. The vocals often sound close enough to be private, but the arrangements widen around them with reverberant percussion and sustained keyboard tones.
“Six Feet Over Ground” plays with images of weight and elevation, turning emotional disorientation into one of the album’s strongest rhythmic tracks. “Who Are You” closes the first half with a direct question. “The Road Less Wandered” begins the second movement in a more reflective mood, showing the duo’s preference for small lyrical phrases that gather meaning through repeated delivery.
“Silent Movies” connects memory with scenes that cannot answer back. “Now & Here” narrows the focus to immediate presence, while “Seagull” brings the duo’s landscape-rooted imagery into a floating arrangement. “I Lost a Bet” closes the album quietly, allowing disappointment and acceptance to coexist rather than resolving the record with a large final chorus.
This Island Records vinyl edition presents all ten songs from ii and is identified by UPC 602567452140. The physical album is sequenced as a single continuous ten-track work despite digital services sometimes dividing the program into two sections. It is the standard studio LP, not an EP or expanded remix edition.
Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
