Description

James Brown – In the Jungle Groove – Clear Double Vinyl Record

In the Jungle Groove was assembled in 1986, but its focus is James Brown’s revolutionary work from 1969 through 1971. The compilation favors long versions, remixes, and rhythm-centered performances, allowing the Famous Flames and the J.B.’s to be heard as architects of funk rather than backing musicians for short singles.

“It’s a New Day” establishes the set’s hard, repetitive pulse before the complete “Funky Drummer” places Clyde Stubblefield’s break inside its original extended performance. The bonus-beat reprise isolates the rhythmic passage that became one of the most sampled drum patterns in popular music.

The remixed “Give It Up or Turnit a Loose” and “Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing” emphasize interlocking guitar, bass, horns, and voice. Brown directs the arrangements through cues and shouted phrases, treating the studio band like a responsive rhythmic machine.

“Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved,” “Soul Power,” and “Hot Pants” trace the music’s movement toward the early J.B.’s sound. Each track builds intensity through repetition, but small changes in accent and instrumentation keep the grooves active rather than static.

This clear double-vinyl edition presents all nine selections with room for their extended running times. In the Jungle Groove remains one of the strongest single collections for hearing Brown’s early-1970s bandleading and the source material that later generations of hip-hop and dance producers repeatedly rediscovered.

Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
