Foo Fighters – Your Favorite Toy – Target Exclusive Opaque White Vinyl Record

Your Favorite Toy puts Foo Fighters’ guitars and restless energy back at the front of the picture. Their twelfth studio album, released in April 2026, is a ten-song set that runs under forty minutes and wastes little time getting underway. “Caught In The Echo” opens with an immediate attack, followed by the bite of “Of All People.” The title song had already introduced the record’s distorted, rougher character, while “Asking For A Friend,” first released in 2025, supplies the closing statement. Together, those songs establish an album that favors a direct encounter with the band’s rock sound.

The recording also introduces Ilan Rubin as Foo Fighters’ studio drummer, joining Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel and Rami Jaffee. The three-guitar lineup remains central, supported by Mendel’s bass and Jaffee’s piano and keyboards. Rubin brings a different rhythmic presence to that established ensemble, giving this version of the band its own character. The personnel matters here because Your Favorite Toy is both a continuation of a long-running group and the first album from its current lineup. It carries familiar voices and players into songs built around a newly configured rhythm section.

There is more variety within the album than its forceful opening might suggest. “Window” turns toward the tuneful, groove-oriented side of Foo Fighters’ late-nineties and early-two-thousands work, while the title track pushes into coarse fuzz and a more confrontational vocal sound. “Unconditional” gives the second side a memorable melodic center. The movement between those approaches keeps the record from becoming one sustained blast of distortion. It is still a compact, guitar-driven album, but the recognizable Foo Fighters habit of placing a strong melody inside a hard-hitting arrangement remains audible in several different forms.

The later songs bring the writing into sharper focus. “Spit Shine” pairs a twisting guitar figure with Grohl’s heated delivery, and “Child Actor” turns toward the question of how a person is seen when a life has been spent in public. Those concerns give the record another dimension beyond its volume. “Amen, Caveman” and “Asking For A Friend” then form the final pair, with the latter returning a previously released song to the context of a complete album. Your Favorite Toy follows the grief-centered But Here We Are with a more outward, combustible presentation, without pretending that the band’s recent history has disappeared.

Recorded at home, the album was produced by Foo Fighters with Oliver Roman, who also engineered the sessions. Mark “Spike” Stent handled the mix, and Emily Lazar mastered it at The Lodge. That combination places the work of shaping the recording alongside the band’s own performance and production decisions. This Target exclusive pressing presents the ten-track album on opaque white vinyl, with five songs on each side. “If You Only Knew” closes Side A, and “Spit Shine” opens Side B. The white pressing distinguishes this configuration from the standard black LP, while the complete album sequence remains the same.
