Why I Am So Wise is a book written by Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher. The full title of the book is “Ecce Homo, Wie man wird, was man ist” in German, which translates to “Ecce Homo, How One Becomes What One Is” in English. It is an autobiographical work in which Nietzsche reflects on his life, his philosophical ideas, and his self-perceived wisdom.

Why I Am So Wise is Nietzsche’s last great work. In January 1889, he began his descent into madness when he is said to have been found in tears in a Turin street, with his arms around a horse that had been beaten by its master. This hardcover collector’s edition is beautifully illustrated, and the text is an essential one which still influences modern thinking.
