Nova Mob was an American alternative rock band formed in 1991 by former Husker Du bassist and songwriter, Grant Hart. After the breakup of Husker Du in 1988, Hart went on to form Nova Mob as his new musical project.

Nova Mob’s sound drew influences from alternative rock, punk, and folk, with Hart’s distinctive songwriting style at the forefront. The band released their debut album, ‘The Last Days of Pompeii,’ in 1991. The album showcased Hart’s introspective and poetic lyrics, combined with a raw and energetic musical approach.

‘The Last Days of Pompeii’ explored themes of personal introspection, social commentary, and mythology, all delivered with the band’s signature intensity. The album received positive reviews for its melodic hooks, passionate performances, and Hart’s songwriting skills.
