The Jazztet – Real Time – Cassette
The Jazztet is a jazz ensemble formed in 1959 by trumpeter Art Farmer and tenor saxophonist Benny Golson. The group was known for its blend of hard bop and soul jazz, featuring tight arrangements and dynamic improvisations. Some of their notable albums include ‘Meet the Jazztet’ (1960) and ‘Big City Sounds’ (1960). It survived until 1962 in its first incarnation, then resurfaced in 1985 with Farmer and Golson once again at the helm.
The group was famous for nicely structured, precise, yet soulful pieces and a swinging style. Both Golson and Farmer know how to play without excess, yet retain energy and impact.
