Big Eye’s Glam Goldmine is almost the exact same compilation released by Cleopatra in 1999; the new configuration simply switches the first and fourth tracks around, and excises the Impotent Sea Snakes’ album-closing track from the first issue. Either way, Glam Goldmine plays a little loose with the definition of “glam,” expanding it to include not only true British glam rock acts from the ’70s (like Sweet and Marc Bolan), but also punk, new wave, hair metal (which, to be fair, was often described as “glam metal”), and Elton John, not to mention a couple of remixes by Mark Pistel of the industrial band Meat Beat Manifesto.
