Description
Diamond Head – Death and Progress – Compact Disc
Death and Progress is the fourth studio album by the British heavy metal band Diamond Head, released in 1993. Diamond Head is known for being one of the pioneering bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement alongside bands like Iron Maiden and Def Leppard.
Death and Progress marked a departure from Diamond Head’s earlier sound, which was more rooted in traditional heavy metal. The album incorporated elements of hard rock and a more polished production style, reflecting the changing musical landscape of the early 1990s.
While the album didn’t achieve the same level of commercial success as some of their earlier works, it showcased the band’s musical evolution and willingness to experiment with their sound. Some standout tracks from the album include “Starcrossed (Lovers of the Night)” and “Calling Your Name”
In hindsight, Death and Progress is seen as a transitional album for Diamond Head, bridging the gap between their classic NWOBHM sound and the changing trends in rock and metal music during the early ’90s. It may not be as well-known as their earlier releases, but it’s an important part of their discography and a reflection of the evolving music scene of that era.
