The album was executive produced by Swizz Beatz, DMX’s longtime collaborator and one of the key architects of his original late-’90s sound. While the production reflects modern rap polish—cleaner drums, updated trap textures, and layered hooks—it still leans into the gritty energy and spiritual intensity that defined DMX’s prime. Swizz’s role is central: the record feels curated with care, balancing new collaborations with X’s unmistakable raw vocal presence.
A defining feature of Exodus is its extensive guest list. Contributors include Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, Bono, The LOX, Moneybagg Yo, Griselda (Westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine), Usher, and Pop Smoke, among others. Rather than overshadowing DMX, most features are structured to support or frame his verses, emphasizing his influence across generations of hip-hop.
