Maddie & Tae’s The Way It Feels is the duo’s second studio album, released on April 10, 2020 via Mercury Nashville. It arrived nearly five years after their debut Start Here (2015), following label changes and a period of career rebuilding, making it an important reintroduction as much as a follow-up.
The album blends contemporary country production with strong harmony-driven songwriting, continuing the vocal interplay that defines Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye’s sound. While their debut leaned heavily into radio-ready country-pop, The Way It Feels expands emotionally and stylistically, incorporating more reflective ballads alongside upbeat, hook-driven tracks. The project was rolled out gradually through a series of EPs before being consolidated into the full-length album.
