Disclaimer, Seether’s debut breakthrough album features the singles “Gasoline,” “Fine Again” and “Driven Under”. To celebrate it’s 20th Anniversary, the album has been completely remastered and expanded. This new Deluxe 2 CD version will feature a host of bonus content including an entire live show from the era as well as a rare B-side cover of Nirvana’s “Something In The Way.” The package will also include exclusive liner notes from acclaimed rock journalist Katherine Turman.
Seether’s Disclaimer is the band’s debut studio album, originally released on August 20, 2002 through Wind-up Records. It marked the South African group’s international breakthrough and positioned them within the early-2000s post-grunge and alternative metal wave that followed bands like Nickelback, Creed, and Three Days Grace.
The album was produced by Jay Baumgardner, whose clean but heavy production style helped shape the record’s radio-ready aggression. Musically, Disclaimer blends down-tuned guitar riffs, melodic choruses, and emotionally direct lyrics. Shaun Morgan’s vocals alternate between restrained introspection and explosive intensity, which became one of Seether’s defining traits.
The breakout single “Fine Again” was pivotal—it gained traction through radio play and film soundtrack placements, helping the album build momentum over time rather than exploding immediately. Other key tracks include “Driven Under,” “Gasoline,” and “Broken.” The original version of “Broken” appeared on this album in a more stripped-back form; it would later be re-recorded as a duet with Amy Lee of Evanescence for the Disclaimer II reissue and became a major crossover hit.
Disclaimer achieved Platinum certification in the United States. Its success led to the 2004 reissue Disclaimer II, which featured remixed tracks, new material, and the hit duet version of “Broken.” That expanded edition significantly boosted the band’s visibility.
In Seether’s catalog, Disclaimer captures the band in their rawest and most direct form—heavy, emotionally blunt, and built around tight verse-chorus dynamics. It established their foundation: brooding alternative metal with strong melodic hooks and a focus on personal struggle that would continue throughout their later releases.
