Founding member and lead singer Matthew Devereux formed The Pale in 1991. Over the following year The Pale cut their teeth on some intensive gigging around the country and earned themselves a considerable following both in Ireland and beyond. Their live shows became their hallmark, described as ‘Tom Waits on acid with a drunken Ukrainian wedding band’ NME 1992.
The Pale caught the eyes and ears of many an A & R man eventually being bagged by A&M records. They immediately got to work recording. The band released their Debut Album ‘Here’s One We Made Earlier’ in 1992 and received 3 Hotpress awards in 1992: Most Promising Act, Best Production, Best Irish single
The group have now resurfaced to bring us their new album ‘Lonely Space Age’ which aims to engross us with their new investigational advances towards electronics and their unique vocal style. The Pale will be embarking on a nationwide tour to proclaim and promote its rebirth. The live set will feature a collection of songs written over the course of the last twelve years.
