Tony Banks Featuring Andy Taylor – Still Takes Me By Surprise – 7 Inch Vinyl Record

Still Takes Me by Surprise is a song by Tony Banks, the keyboardist and one of the founding members of the British progressive rock band Genesis. The song features Andy Taylor, who is best known as the guitarist for the rock band Duran Duran. It was included in Tony Banks’ 1991 solo album Still.

Anthony George “Tony” Banks (born March 27, 1950) is an English songwriter, pianist/keyboard player, and guitarist. He is one of the founding members of progressive rock group Genesis and one of only two members (the other being guitarist/bassist Mike Rutherford) to belong to Genesis throughout its entire history.

The track is a departure from the progressive rock sound that Genesis was known for and leans more towards pop and rock influences. Still Takes Me by Surprise showcases Tony Banks’ songwriting abilities and features Andy Taylor’s distinctive guitar work.

While the song may not be as well-known as some of Tony Banks’ or Andy Taylor’s other work, it reflects their musical versatility and willingness to explore different styles beyond their primary bands. Fans of both Genesis and Duran Duran, as well as fans of ’90s pop and rock, may appreciate this collaboration and the unique musical direction it takes.
