Celebrity Skin – SOS – Vinyl Record
S.O.S. is a cover of ABBA’s classic hit by the American glam punk band Celebrity Skin. Known for their energetic performances and unique interpretations, Celebrity Skin infused ‘S.O.S.’ with their distinctive blend of glam rock and punk elements. They recorded the song twice: first for the 1988 SST Records compilation The Melting Plot, and later for their self-titled EP released by Triple X Records in 1990.
Their rendition of ‘S.O.S.’ became a staple in their live shows, showcasing their ability to blend pop sensibilities with a raw, edgy sound. Celebrity Skin’s musical style drew inspiration from 1970s glam rock and punk bands, combining pop hooks and strong melodies with a rough, feedback-laden edge. Their live performances were renowned for their raucousness and entertainment value, often incorporating elaborate stage shows and interactive theatrics.
