FKA twigs – EUSEXUA Afterglow – Semi-Transparent Pink Vinyl Record
EUSEXUA Afterglow is FKA twigs’s companion and full-bodied sequel to EUSEXUA, moving from the concentrated release of the rave into the unstable hours that follow. What began as a possible deluxe expansion became an independent eleven-song work with its own arc. The album treats afterglow as sensation, memory, pleasure, loneliness, and the search for connection after a peak experience has passed, using club rhythm as emotional language rather than simple backdrop.
“Love Crimes” opens in a space where desire already carries consequence, and “Slushy” lets texture blur the edges of the beat. “Wild and Alone,” featuring PinkPantheress, sets intimacy against isolation with two distinct vocal presences. “HARD” tightens the body of the record through percussion and command, while “Cheap Hotel” turns a temporary location into a scene of beauty, performance, and risk. The sequence feels nocturnal but never locked into one genre.
“Touch a Girl” and “Predictable Girl” examine expectation from different directions. Twigs can sound exposed, mischievous, controlling, or transformed within the same track, and the production shifts around those positions. Hooks emerge from unusual vocal processing, close whispers, abrupt bass, and details that reward headphones. The songs remain physical even when their structures become abstract, preserving a sense of dancers moving through space rather than reducing experimentation to an intellectual exercise.
“Sushi” expands into one of the album’s most adventurous pieces, allowing club energy, sensual imagery, and changing sections to coexist. “Piece of Mine” asks what remains available after a relationship or experience has taken its share. “Lost All My Friends” makes the comedown literal, replacing collective motion with absence and disorientation. The change is not merely sad; it reveals how temporary communities and intense nights can feel both profoundly real and impossible to keep.
“Stereo Boy” closes the album by returning sound itself to the center. Throughout Afterglow, twigs extends the vocabulary developed on EUSEXUA while refusing to reproduce that record’s exact emotional state. Collaborators and producers contribute to a fluid mix of dance, electronica, R&B, trip-hop, and avant-pop, but her voice and movement remain the organizing forces. The result is a sequel concerned with transformation after ecstasy rather than a bundle of unused bonus tracks.
This physical edition is a single LP pressed on semi-transparent Afterglow pink vinyl. It includes an unbound eighteen-page lyric poster that expands the visual presentation beyond the jacket.
