Frankie Goes To Hollywood – Liverpool – Vinyl Record
Liverpool is the third studio album by the British band Frankie Goes to Hollywood, released in 1986.
Liverpool served as the follow-up to the band’s highly successful debut album, Welcome to the Pleasuredome, which was released in 1984. Welcome to the Pleasuredome included hits like “Relax” and “Two Tribes.”
Liverpool marked a departure from the synth-pop sound of their debut album, incorporating a more rock-oriented approach. The band aimed to showcase a different side of their musical capabilities.
The album includes the singles “Rage Hard” and “Warriors of the Wasteland.” While these songs achieved moderate success, they did not reach the same level of commercial impact as the singles from their debut album. The album features contributions from session musicians and guest artists, reflecting the band’s desire to experiment with different musical styles. Trevor Horn, the producer of their first album, had less involvement in Liverpool.
Liverpool received mixed reviews from critics. While some appreciated the band’s attempt to explore new musical territories, others were critical of the departure from their successful synth-pop sound. Despite not replicating the commercial success of their debut, Liverpool has gained retrospective interest as a snapshot of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s artistic evolution. The band disbanded not long after the album’s release.
Liverpool is an interesting chapter in Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s discography, showcasing the band’s willingness to evolve and experiment with their musical style. While it did not achieve the same level of success as their debut, it remains a part of the band’s legacy and musical journey.
