Guerrilla Warfare is the second Hot Boys album and one of the central documents of Cash Money Records’ late-1990s rise. Juvenile, B.G., Lil Wayne, and Turk bring four distinct voices to Mannie Fresh’s production, which combines booming low end, clipped drums, synthesizer hooks, and the rhythmic bounce of New Orleans rap. Released in 1999, the album presents the group as a unit while still making each member’s personality immediately recognizable.

“We on Fire” opens with a collective statement and the chant-driven energy associated with the group. “Respect My Mind” and B.G.’s “Help” bring a harder, more suspicious tone. “Ridin’” turns motion through the city into a shared narrative, with verses passing from one rapper to another. The short “Off tha Porch” skit marks the transition from adolescence into street responsibility.

“Get Out tha Way” and Lil Wayne’s “Clear tha Set” emphasize confrontation, but “I Feel” introduces a more reflective mood. “Boys at War” frames loyalty through the group identity. The chemistry comes from contrast: Juvenile’s elastic drawl, B.G.’s blunt gravity, Turk’s urgency, and the young Lil Wayne’s quick, high-register attack all occupy different spaces in Fresh’s arrangements.

“You Dig,” “Tuesdays & Thursdays,” and Turk’s “Bout Whatever” keep the record rooted in neighborhood detail. The single “I Need a Hot Girl,” featuring Big Tymers, supplies its most accessible hook without abandoning the Cash Money sound. After the “Sick Uncle” skit, “Shoot 1st” and “Too Hot” close the album with the same tightly controlled aggression that drives the opening.

This 25th-anniversary Cash Money/Republic edition presents the original 16-track album on two black vinyl records. UPC 602465344783 identifies the 2024 pressing. The double-LP format restores Guerrilla Warfare as a complete physical program rather than reducing it to the best-known singles or a digital playlist.
