Brand new, never played and still in the factory plastic
VS is an album by the American post-punk band Mission of Burma. It was released in 1982 and is considered a landmark album in the post-punk genre. The band consisted of Roger Miller (guitar/vocals), Clint Conley (bass/vocals), Peter Prescott (drums/vocals), and Martin Swope (tape manipulator/sound engineer).
VS showcases Mission of Burma’s unique blend of punk, art rock, and noise elements. The album features a raw and energetic sound with intricate guitar work, driving basslines, powerful drumming, and thought-provoking lyrics. Notable tracks on “VS” include “That’s When I Reach for My Revolver,” “Academy Fight Song,” and “Devotion.”
Despite critical acclaim, Mission of Burma disbanded shortly after the release of “VS” due to Roger Miller’s worsening tinnitus. However, their influence continued to grow over the years, and they reunited in 2002. Since then, they have released new material and performed live, cementing their status as influential pioneers of post-punk and indie rock.
VS remains a significant album in Mission of Burma’s discography and in the broader context of post-punk music. Its combination of angular guitar riffs, intricate song structures, and socially conscious lyrics has made it an enduring and influential release.
