Rihanna – Loud – Double Vinyl Records with Exclusive Insert

The red-haired portrait on Loud’s cover captures an especially recognizable period in Rihanna’s career. Released in 2010 as her fifth studio album, the record brings her pop, R&B and Caribbean influences into a bright, direct setting. It followed Rated R and widened the emphasis toward songs that could work equally well as radio singles and large dance productions. Eleven tracks cover considerable musical ground, from the electronic sweep of “Only Girl (In the World)” to the reggae character of “Man Down.” Rihanna’s vocal personality holds the differences together: she can sound assured, playful or wounded without losing the distinctive tone that makes the songs immediately identifiable.

“Only Girl (In the World)” builds around a substantial dance rhythm and a chorus that rises above its electronic backing. “S&M” has a more clipped, insistent feel, opening the album with an assertive vocal and strongly defined pop production. “What’s My Name?” adds Drake to a rhythmically flexible R&B setting, making the interaction between the two voices central to the song. These three recordings became American number-one singles and established the album’s most public identity. Heard together, they also show Rihanna working with different kinds of rhythmic space: a broad dance arrangement, a sharply outlined club song and a duet whose phrases lean into the beat.

The Caribbean connection is especially apparent in “Man Down,” where the reggae rhythm supports a dramatic narrative and Rihanna’s phrasing gives the performance its particular character. “Cheers (Drink to That)” offers another kind of communal energy, incorporating a sample from Avril Lavigne’s “I’m with You” into a song shaped around celebration. On “Raining Men,” Nicki Minaj brings a contrasting voice into the album’s third side. Those tracks widen Loud’s palette beyond the major electronic singles. They also underline how readily Rihanna could move between musical settings at this point, using changes in delivery and attitude to make each recording feel like part of her own repertoire.

The ballads and slower material are just as important to the album’s range. “California King Bed” uses a guitar-oriented arrangement to express distance within a relationship, with the vocal growing as the song opens out. “Fading” and “Complicated” approach similar uncertainty through different pop and R&B textures. “Skin” brings a slower pace to the final side before “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)” closes the program with Eminem. The ending revisits the collaboration from Rihanna’s perspective, giving a troubled relationship the last word on an album often remembered for its brighter singles. That placement leaves Loud with a more complex emotional character than its title and colorful sleeve alone might suggest.

This October 2025 Target exclusive edition contains the eleven-song album on two vinyl records and includes an exclusive insert. The music is divided across four sides, with “S&M,” “What’s My Name?” and “Cheers (Drink to That)” filling the first, and “Skin” and “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)” occupying the last. The original red-haired cover image remains part of the package. Loud documents a period when Rihanna’s singles reached a particularly wide audience while her albums continued to draw on several musical traditions. The complete program places the familiar hits beside reggae, guest performances and guitar-led ballad writing, preserving the breadth of the 2010 release in this later physical edition.
