Toby Keith – Christmas to Christmas – Vinyl Record
Christmas to Christmas is Toby Keith’s first holiday album, originally released in 1995 while his early country career was gathering momentum. Instead of building the program around repeatedly recorded standards, Keith and his collaborators emphasize original songs. The result sounds connected to his regular catalog: character-driven stories, barroom humor, family scenes, and direct country melodies placed inside a seasonal setting.
“Santa, I’m Right Here” opens with a narrative about a homeless child writing to Santa, giving the record an unexpectedly serious emotional center. “Bethlehem in Birmingham” brings the Christmas story into a contemporary American landscape. “Christmas Rock” shifts toward celebration, while “Blame It on the Mistletoe” uses holiday tradition for romantic comedy.
“Santa’s Gonna Take It All Back” is built around a playful warning to an ungrateful household. “The Night Before Christmas” approaches familiar imagery through Keith’s conversational delivery. “Hot Rod Sleigh” is the album’s most overt novelty song, updating Santa’s transportation with country-rock energy rather than relying on a standard arrangement.
The title song measures the distance between one holiday and the next, giving the record a reflective adult perspective. “Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus” contrasts commercial excitement with the religious meaning of the season. “Mary, It’s Christmas” addresses the Nativity more directly, while “All I Want for Christmas” and “What Made the Baby Cry?” bring the original vinyl program to a thoughtful close.
This Mercury Nashville vinyl edition presents the 12-song album sequence and is identified by UPC 602465784206. It follows the original Christmas to Christmas program and excludes “Old Toy Trains,” a bonus track added to some later digital editions. The single LP preserves the album’s unusual emphasis on newly written country Christmas material.
