Ultravox! is the debut studio album by the British new wave band Ultravox, originally released in 1977. The album features the classic lineup of the band, including vocalist and guitarist John Foxx, guitarist Stevie Shears, bassist Chris Cross, keyboardist Billy Currie, and drummer Warren Cann.
Ultravox! showcases the band’s early sound, which combines elements of punk, glam rock, and electronic music. The album features energetic and melodic tracks such as “Saturday Night in the City of the Dead,” “My Sex,” and “The Wild, The Beautiful, and the Damned.” The lyrics often touch upon themes of urban life, alienation, and social commentary.
The self-titled album received critical acclaim and laid the foundation for Ultravox’s later success. It remains an important record in the band’s discography and a notable release from the late 1970s new wave movement.
