Godsmack – IV – Remastered 45 RPM Double Vinyl Record

IV is Godsmack’s fourth studio album and the band’s second consecutive release to debut at number one. Recorded with veteran engineer and producer Andy Johns, the 2006 album retains the heavy guitar-and-drum foundation of the earlier records while bringing more blues color, acoustic space, and melodic contrast into the arrangements. Sully Erna’s voice remains forceful, but the program gives him more settings than unbroken aggression.

“Livin’ in Sin” opens with a dark riff and a vocal that moves between restraint and release. “Speak” tightens the rhythm into one of the album’s defining singles. “The Enemy” follows with a confrontational chorus, while “Shine Down” slows the tempo and lets blues-inflected lead guitar widen the band’s sound. The first record establishes both the familiar impact and the expanded palette.

“Hollow” brings in Lisa Guyer for a duet that strips the instrumentation back and emphasizes regret. “No Rest for the Wicked” and “Bleeding Me” return to heavier movement without repeating the opening songs. “Voodoo Too” deliberately reconnects with the atmosphere of “Voodoo” from the debut album, using percussion and a hypnotic pulse as a continuation rather than a simple sequel.

“Temptation” and “Mama” explore darker personal material. “One Rainy Day” closes the listed album with a long, gradually developing arrangement, followed by the hidden “Safe and Sound.” The extended ending matters to the record’s shape: after a series of tightly constructed hard-rock songs, the final side is allowed to stretch and resolve at a different pace.

This Republic Records edition marks IV’s first vinyl release. The remastered album is pressed across two 45 RPM black vinyl records in a gatefold jacket. UPC 602465945454 identifies this 2024 configuration. The four-side program includes the unlisted hidden track “Safe and Sound” after “One Rainy Day.”
