Dressed In Black is an album by musician Ben Vaughn, released in 1995. Ben Vaughn is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his eclectic blend of rock, folk, and country music.
This album was released following two fine releases that Ben Vaughn made with the Ben Vaughn Combo and album that he recorded with remnants of the Combo under his own name. For Vaughn, whose songs had been covered by a number of other artists (including Marshall Crenshaw and the Skeletons), DRESSED IN BLACK was his first bigger-budget project.
The album Dressed In Black showcases Vaughn’s unique songwriting style and his ability to create catchy melodies with a touch of twang. The songs on the album cover a range of themes and emotions, often with a wry sense of humor. Some standout tracks from the album include “Dressed In Black,” “Big Drum Sound,” and “New Wave Dancing.”

DRESSED IN BLACK remains a strong album and is a perfect entry point into Ben Vaughn’s work (as is MOOD SWINGS, an anthology of recordings made from 1985 to 1990).
