Benny Carter – My Kind Of Trouble – Cassette
Benny Carter was a highly influential jazz saxophonist, trumpeter, composer, and arranger, active from the 1920s to the 1990s. He was known for his mastery of various instruments and his significant contributions to the development of jazz music.
With the exception of one song, Benny Carter had never previously recorded with an organist during his first 60 years on record. This Pablo set teams the classic Carter alto with organist Art Hillery and guitarist Joe Pass in a fine quintet.
Actually, other than the instrumentation, there is little unusual about this date. On four Carter compositions and two standards, Benny Carter (who was nearing age 81) is in typical flawless form, swinging effortlessly.
