There is a clear sense of continuity between HOT and the early work however, attributable to the fact that Jad’s personality and world view are so much a part of this band’s identity. Fair is never short of believable in anything he sings, and his musical cohorts always fall in step with his distinctive aesthetic.

Half Japanese’s influence on the alternative and indie music scenes is significant, with Hot serving as a good representation of their style and artistic ethos. This album is particularly appealing to listeners who value creativity and authenticity over polish and perfection, embodying the spirit of true experimental indie rock.
