Joshua Breakstone is an American jazz guitarist known for his work in the bebop and post-bop styles. He has released numerous albums throughout his career, showcasing his technical prowess and melodic improvisation.
Guitarist Joshua Breakstone’s finds him avoiding using the big names of the past and instead improvising in a pianoless trio with bassist Dennis Irwin and drummer Kenny Washington. Breakstone, whose musical path has been consistent since his early days, sticks to bop on a program including two originals, a few standards, and songs by Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk (he takes ‘Monk’s Mood’ unaccompanied). All of Joshua Breakstone’s recordings thus far are worth getting by straight-ahead jazz fans.
