Originally appearing in 1982, this EP was the first release by this surprisingly long lasting instrumental combo. Producer, keyboardist and sound manipulator Steve Fisk was to join the band after these recordings, first appearing on the band’s BUMPER CROP album in 1987.

Shimmering guitars are the order of the day here, the contrasting sounds recalling such non-instrumental outfits as Television and the Feelies. What these recordings have in common with their later successors is a strong rhythmic core to each tune–they’re rich with grooves. Anchored by bass and drums, the guitars dart about like hyperactive children in a candy store. Rhythmic shifts are deployed judiciously and for dramatic effect
