“Destroyed” and “Alamosa” bring the fifteen-song sequence to a more reflective close. By the end, Dollar A Day feels less like a collection of unrelated genre exercises than a travelogue through working lives, compromised plans, damaged loyalties, and landscapes that continue after the traveler leaves. Crockett’s control is central: he can make a line sound conversational, fatalistic, amused, or defiant without changing the album’s measured pace.
