Description
Sepultura – Ratamahatta – Compact Disc Single
Ratamahatta is a song by the Brazilian metal band Sepultura. It is featured on their sixth studio album, Roots, released in 1996. The track is notable for its fusion of heavy metal with tribal and indigenous elements, showcasing Sepultura’s experimentation with different musical styles.
Ratamahatta features guest vocals by Carlinhos Brown, a Brazilian musician known for his work in Afro-Brazilian and world music. The song’s lyrics include a mix of Portuguese and a made-up language, contributing to its unique and exotic atmosphere.
The combination of aggressive guitar riffs, tribal percussion, and the inclusion of unconventional instruments made Ratamahatta stand out in Sepultura’s discography. The band’s exploration of indigenous Brazilian sounds on the “Roots” album marked a departure from their earlier thrash metal roots and demonstrated a willingness to push boundaries within the metal genre.

Brand new, never played and still in the factory plastic
The demo tracks are taken from a cassette that was recorded live on an eight track machine at Sepultura’s jam pad in Phoenix in March ’95, at the very start of the writing of the ROOTS album. At the time of recording, there were barely any lyrics written for ‘Roots Bloody Roots’.
