Believe is the seventeenth studio album by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, released on November 13, 2020 via Sugar Music and Decca Records. The album serves as a deeply personal collection of music that has inspired him throughout his life, emerging in the wake of his much‑viewed Music for Hope concert at Milan Cathedral during the global pandemic.
Co‑produced by Steven Mercurio and Haydn Bendall, Believe is rooted in themes of renewal, comfort, spirituality and resilience. It features a mix of classical‑crossover standards and sacred music, including “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” “Amazing Grace,” and Bocelli’s interpretations of “Ave Maria” and “Padre Nostro,” the latter recorded by him for the first time. A previously unreleased Ennio Morricone composition, along with “Gratia Plena” from the film Fatima, adds further emotional gravitas to the repertoire.
The album also features duets with Alison Krauss on “Amazing Grace” and Cecilia Bartoli on both “Pianissimo” and the titular “I Believe,” lending delicate harmonies that enhance the album’s reflective mood. Across 17 tracks, the arrangements blend orchestral and choral support with moments of intimate piano, flute or violin accompaniment, creating a soothing sonic landscape.
Critically and commercially, Believe was well received. It topped charts in several European countries—reaching the top three in the UK, Ireland, and Poland—and entered the Billboard 200 chart in the US . Positioned as a statement of hope and artistic resilience, the album resonates with listeners seeking solace and spiritual uplift amid uncertain times.
