John Lunn – Downton Abbey: A New Era – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack – Vinyl Record
John Lunn’s score for Downton Abbey: A New Era returns to the Crawley family with music shaped by two settings: the familiar estate and a new journey to the south of France. Performed by the Chamber Orchestra of London, the score keeps the series’ elegant thematic language while adding lighter Mediterranean color and period-film material.
“A New Era” reintroduces the sweeping Downton sound, then “Kinema,” “Côte d’Azur,” and “Guy” establish the film-within-a-film plot and the Riviera setting. Lunn uses strings, piano, winds, and occasional acoustic guitar to move between inherited formality and the story’s changing social world.
The second side includes “All Aboard,” “The Handsome Mr. Barber,” “The Gambler,” and “Le Chapeau de Carson,” pieces tied to travel, cinema, and new characters. “Crazy Rhythm” brings a period song into the orchestral program, while Cherise Adams-Burnett’s vocal appearances add a distinctly human color.
Later cues such as “That I Do Remember,” “A Villa Is a Fortress,” “A New Beginning,” and “Forever” carry the story’s emotional resolutions. Lunn avoids overstating them, relying on thematic recall and orchestral shading to connect the film with the larger Downton history.
This single black-vinyl soundtrack edition presents the nineteen-track physical program. It is the score to the 2022 feature film, not the earlier series or first-film soundtrack.
Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
