“Perfectly Imperfect at the Ryman” is a live album by American country singer-songwriter Margo Price, recorded over three sold-out nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on May 19, 20, and 23, 2018. Produced by Price herself and captured by engineer Evan Donahue, the album runs 53 minutes and 16 seconds, showcasing both her original repertoire and reinterpretations of classics. Although born out of performances preceding her third studio album, That’s How Rumors Get Started, its release was delayed until May 21, 2020, when Price surprise-dropped it exclusively on Bandcamp to raise funds for the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund
The record’s 11-song lineup traverses a spectrum of styles and guest appearances, underlining Price’s versatility. It opens with a lush, waltz-style rendition of “A Little Pain,” then pivots to a funk-infused “Weekender.” Emmylou Harris joins for a stirring duet on “Wild Women,” while Sturgill Simpson guests on guitar for “Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This,” and Jack White adds his signature grit to “Honey, We Can’t Afford to Look This Cheap.” Other standouts include the medley “Hurtin’ (On the Bottle),” which weaves in nods to Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, and a seven-and-a-half-minute take on “All American Made” that builds to a rousing climax
