Motley Crue – Shout At The Devil – 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Motley Crue’s Shout at the Devil is a landmark album in the glam metal genre, released in 1983. It is the band’s second studio album and represents a significant moment in their career, marking their breakthrough into mainstream success. The album showcases the band’s aggressive blend of heavy metal riffs and glam rock aesthetics, solidifying their reputation as icons of the 1980s rock scene.
Shout at the Devil features some of Motley Crue’s most iconic tracks, including the anthemic title track ‘Shout at the Devil,’ the catchy ‘Looks That Kill,’ and the cover of The Beatles’ ‘Helter Skelter.’ These songs exemplify the band’s signature style: loud, rebellious, and unabashedly hedonistic, with lyrics that often explore themes of rebellion, danger, and excess.
The album’s production, handled by Tom Werman, is polished yet retains a raw edge that complements the band’s energetic performances. The guitar work by Mick Mars is both powerful and melodic, underpinned by Nikki Sixx’s driving bass lines and Vince Neil’s distinctive vocals, which carry both melody and attitude. Tommy Lee’s drums give the album its pounding heartbeat, driving the band’s hard-hitting sound.
Shout at the Devil was both a commercial and critical success, helping to propel Motley Crue into the spotlight and becoming a defining album of the glam metal movement. It stirred some controversy, particularly due to its provocative imagery and themes, which only fueled the band’s notoriety and appeal.
For fans of hard rock and metal, Shout at the Devil is a quintessential listen that captures the spirit of an era when rock music was as much about spectacle as it was about sound. The album remains a beloved classic, celebrated for its raw power, memorable hooks, and its pivotal role in defining the glam metal genre.
